The Top Draw was a private club near Miami Beach, which featured
three large connecting rooms a Disco, Restaurant (the best ribs in
town and onion soup) and a Piano bar where older people would hang
out. It was opened till 5am so this place would be hopping.
You could go to one room, sit and eat with a date and dine on the
finest food and slip over to the next room and dance to the best
Disco music of the times. I remember to this day seeing all the well
dressed people and the girls were to die for.
When the
dance
floor was at its peak I would sometimes blow a
whistle and the crowd would go bananas! At the Piano bar you could
see lots of stars from the old days such as Mickey Ronney, Red
Buttons... One time on a Tuesday, Frank Sinatra came and they closed
the Piano bar for him. You can say the Top Draw's owners were well
connected!
My memories there were all great. Till this day I can see the crowd
dancing and cheering as I played a new release by Donna Summer (I
Feel Love). Man, those were the days! The Top Draw was a classy
club.
